Free Crochet Pineapple Table Runner Patterns

Hi this is Sophia with crochet. I’m more calm today we’re going to be making our free crochet pineapple table runner pattern. We’re working with a worsted weight yarn and a size H crochet hook. Row 1 begins with a chain of 40 our foundation chain is 40 chains on and you’re instructed to work a double crochet in the hump of the second chain from the hook.

Now each chain as you can see the front side of the chain you have two loops on the back side of the chain there’s a little hump or a back edge we’re going to be working our stitches into into each back Ridge on each stitch, so our first instruction is to work a double crochet in the hump of the fourth chain from the hook.

So you don’t count the loop that’s on your hook, you’re going to count back four chains. One two three four and in the back Ridge or the hump of that chain is where we’re going to place our first double crochet so you’re going to yarn over insert your hook into that back Ridge yarn overs through two yarn over through two now.

Our instruction free crochet pattern for pineapple table runner says we need to work a double crochet in the hump of each remaining chain so you’re going to continue that all the way across the row, so into that back Ridge on each of your, foundation chains you will work a double.

Crochet Stitch For Pineapple Table Runner

The reason I like to work in the hump or the back Ridge of each chain is that makes the bottom of your project look like the tops of stitches instead of like the bottom of a foundation chain just gives it a neater edge. Now at the end of row one you should have 38 double crochet stitches and you can count these if you can see each double crochet looks like a little fence post.

I always refer to them as post so you’ve got 2 4 6 8 10 12 14 16 18 20 22 24 26 28 30 32 34 36 38 and that completes Row one of our table runner. Row two you’re going to make three chains you’re going to turn the work now you’re going to work a double crochet in the next two double crochet. So you don’t work into the top of the double crochet that’s directly below your three chains because the three.

Chains will count as the first double. So you’re going to work a double crochet in the next two now you’re going to make two chains if you’ll notice in the pattern we have an asterisk. Now you’re going to skip two double crochet and then work a double crochet in three double crochet, so you’re going to skip these two and you’re going to work a double crochet on each of these three. Okay there’s one two three and what that does is start our pattern because we have little holes in our table runner pattern.

Now it says to repeat from the asterisk across remember the asterisk is just a marker to help you learn how to it really just shortens a pattern and you go back to the asterisks back to those instructions and you repeat those again. so our instruction says to repeat from the asterisks across so we go back to the asterisk we chain two we skip two double crochet.

We’re going to work a double crochet in three double crochet as you can see now we have two of those little spaces go back to the asterisk again chain two skip two doubles double in the next three and you’re going to continue this way all the way across so chain two skip two double and three chain two skip two double and three chain two skip two double and three chain two skip two and double in the very last three stitches.

Remember that last stitch goes in the top of that very last to what looks like a turning chain so that completes Row 2 of our table runner pattern now for Row 3 you’re going to make three chains again and turn your work and instructions are to work a double crochet in each double crochet and two double crochet in each chain two space.

So we have three chains count as the double in the top of this one we’re going to work a double crochet in the next two doubles now you’re going to place two double crochet in the next chain two space and all that means is you work those two stitches into the hole beneath those two chains not directly into each chain. Now you’re going to put a double in each of the doubles and two doubles in each of those chain two spaces we’re going to do this all the way across go back into that chain two space place two stitches excuse me.

And for this pattern you establish the first three rows and for the rest of the table runner you’re going to alternate repeating. Row 2 with Row 3 until you get the link that you want you’re going to end with a Row 3 because you want a solid edge so after the end of every. Row 3 you should still have 38 double crochet so there’s 2 4 6 8 10 12 14 16 18 20 22 24 26 28 30 32 34 36 38 so you just keep repeating that until you get the link that you need and that’s how you make our table runner pattern.
